A couple of weeks ago James and I took a walk down by the Brooklyn Navy Yard, which is at the end of our street, and through the streets around us in Clinton Hill. It was a spectacular day – freezing cold but bright and clear and sunny, so perfect for leaf-peeping! There’s a particular stretch along the navy yard that I love, where the rough brick and concrete walls and the wire and wooden fences are covered with vines and self-seeded trees and vines spring out of the cracks in the bricks. Inside this part of the navy yard are incredible old abandoned houses now overgrown with wild vines and trees (you can read a little about it here).
Autumn in New York is something truly spectacular and now that it is almost all over I’m so glad we took a few moments to enjoy it in all its glory.
I agree truly spectacular!
